FAHSS Rep.

My campaign as a FAHSS representative will focus on expanding IT services to FAHSS department for final exams and midterm purposes. IT services like DNS and DHCP exist that can provide filtered access to web browsers. The primary factor for why FAHSS students have to hand-write their essays and finals is due to preventive measure taken by professors to avoid violation of cheating policies of Uwindsor which as of 02/2023 includes usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Extending IT services for examination will allow students to digitally-type their exams, especially essay section (which is the most common format for almost all of the FAHSS programs). Most students on campus are accustomed to using electronic devices for note-taking and writing. The traditional practice of hand-writing exams is structural limitation on students as its more physically required (discomfort due to pain), limits legibility in case handwriting is not understandable, limits editing capability, and impacts the deliverance pace ( ability to express their thoughts clearly). These limitations don’t count for accessibility further impacting student’s performance. Hand-written practices for FAHSS students limits their material conveyance ability due to time-consuming methods in a limited time period. By introducing filtered access to browser, students will be able to type their exams on electronic devices while respecting compliance with academic integrity policies.

Considering the diverse nature of faculties in our university, UWSA provides a collective identity to all as University of Windsor students. UWSA cultivate a sense of community among students through organizations, including CAW students service, events organization (clubs days, non-academic activities) providing us with a shared student experience. Furthermore, the most important factor of UWSA’s significance is student advocacy. Via our student alliance, we have advocated for students' rights and interests on issues such as tuition fees, academic policies, and campus services. UWSA has lobbies for policies amendments that affect students' well-being and academic success including recent policies regarding RBC on campus, tackling islamophobia and antisemitism on campus, and much more. CAW centered backed by UWSA like dental, health, transit services are essential part of equitable and inclusive treatment of students. UWSA provides leadership opportunities while representing student interests to university administration and faculty. UWSA is essential for awareness and education for students in respect to their rights and responsibility within our institution.

I have been/am participant in multiple FAHSS related clubs and organization. I currently hold positions among Pre-Law Student Society, University of Windsor Model United Nations, Uwindsor Punjabi Association. I have been part of Uwin Mock Trial Association and Odette Debate Team. I have previously worked with Student Experience as Faculty leader and with Aspire. My involvement with diverse uwindsor organizations and faculty members over my four years has given me immense insight on students engagement and experience. Considering that, I have gained perspective on limitations and privilege of FAHSS department paving my way for representation of FAHSS students at the UWSA board.
