1. Outline your relevant experience for this position

This past summer from May to September 2021, I was the Welcome Week Events Coordinator for SSLC and I had the chance to work campus partners, student staff, and the SSLC team to create, plan, and develop the Welcome Week which was in the transitional period of Covid-19 guidelines as we were slowly coming back to in-person campus life. I found that this role prepared me a lot to see the behind of the scenes of this VPSL role and how I can take what I have learned, and build on it in the role of VPSL to showcase a side that I think was missing – genuine connection, togetherness, creativity and new ideas, and still bring FUN to the week. I have also been working out of the Office of Student Experience as a BIDE Student Leader, working to host events, create initiatives, and promote activities that serve to enhance the student life.

2. What specific initiatives and projects would you undertake related to this role?

Welcome Week and Frosh Week – finding new ways to bring campus life to public places around the Windsor community, but also bring students together from different facilities and subject areas/years, to recognize that we all need the support of one another to have a university experience of a lifetime. Finding ways to collide campus partners with UWSA to show students all that the UWINDSOR community can offer them in a fun and creative light

3. How do you plan on facilitating positive work relationships within the UWSA Board, members at large and UWindsor administration?

I plan on being personable, allowing my personality to shine through my work and my connections, being professional and staying organized with tasks and prioritizing my attendance and presence in conversation through broad meetings, always thinking of the student perspective and what I believe we could improve.

4. Describe the importance of the UWSA in your own words

UWSA importance is all through the aspect of representing the students, the student’s voices, opinions, choices, and advocating for the students in a way that brings the community closer. Having a student alliance to support our students is key to recognizing the potential that they can have on each other within the community, and as they continue to grow in their university careers.
