NOTICE OF NOMINATION: 2023 General Election  

Thursday January 26, 2023 | Message by the Chief Returning Officer  

Notice is hereby given that Nomination Days will begin on Thursday February 2, 2023, and run through until Wednesday February 15, 2023, at 5:00 PM. The nominations for the election of candidates of the following offices will be received via email to the Chief Returning Officer -CRO (crouwsa@uwindsor.ca).  

Note that the Nomination packages will be available on Thursday February 2, 2023, online at https://uwsa.ca/elections/2023-general-election. Any collection of nominators prior to the release of the 2023 Nomination Forms will not be valid. All nomination forms must be completed digitally.  

Nomination Period will end Wednesday February 15, 2023, at 5:00 PM and all Nomination Packages must be submitted via email. All candidates will be contacted prior to the Mandatory All Candidates Meeting.

The General Election is held annually to elect four new executives and representatives to the Board of Directors. Candidates will be able to campaign in person on campus, as well as campaign materials will be made available online by the candidate and on our website to inform students, who are eligible to vote, of the platforms each candidate is running on.

Students are also able to vote on proposed referendums.

The schedule below has all of the important dates and times for this year’s general election. As well, all the important documents are available below, including the nomination package when it is available.

Jan 26th

Notice of Nominations
Call for eligible students interested in running in the UWSA General Election.

Feb 2nd - Feb 15th

Nomination Period — Deadline 5PM
All completed nomination packages must be submitted to the CRO on Feb 15th

Feb 17th

All Candidates' Meeting — 12PM or 6PM
Every candidate or proxy representative must be present for one of two virtual meetings.

Feb 18th - Feb 26th

Preparation Period
During this period, candidates are to prepare all online campaign materials.

Feb 26th

Content Approval — Deadline 5PM
All campaign content must be submitted to the CRO.

Feb 28th - Mar 7th

Campaign Period
Candidates can release all approved campaign content.

Mar 8th

Voting Period — Starts at 9AM
First day UWindsor students will be able to log in and vote for eligbile candidates.

Mar 9th

Voting Period — Ends at 6PM
Last day UWindsor students will be able to log in and vote for eligbile candidates.

Mar 9th

Election Results - Live at 7PM
Unofficial results will be livestreamed on UWSA Facebook at 7PM.

Mar 9th - Mar 12th

Appeal Results — Deadline 7PM
Any appeals regarding unofficial results must be submitted to the CRO.
