Once you have joined a Student Group and have demonstrated positive leadership skills to your group you may be able to run in the clubs annual elections. Leading a Student Group is an excellent way to spice up your resume and build upon your leadership skills. Below are testimonials from some of the Student Groups leaders on campus.
“I first came across EWB in the CAW commons when they were having an event. I talked with a few people signed their mailing list and went out to their bi-weekly meeting. I wanted to get more involved on campus and not just go to events or meetings but really help out and try to make a difference. So after attending EWB’s meetings on and off for a year I took on an executive position holding bi-weekly workshops and presentations for the following year discussing poverty related issues with students on campus. Since then I’ve greatly improved my public speaking, organization, time management and confidence, which lead me to an EWB overseas volunteer work placement this summer where I spent 4 months in Ghana living with a family and working with the Ghanaian Ministry of Food and Agriculture!”
